The Secret – Fun & Memorable Family Photography Sessions
Family photography sessions are so much fun for me, and my Number 1 tip as to why.
Relax.
First and really the only tip of the day. Yup that’s really it.I can almost feel your shoulders drop, with relief. Right?
You get to enjoy this family photography session too. Absolutely. As in life in general what happens will happen. Kids can always, always sense your mood, so go into it totally care free. Yes really, get yourself ready, kids dressed then that’s it, don’t even think about it anymore.
If Mummy is happy there is a very good chance those kids are totally happy too. It’s not your job to worry about me capturing your kids and you with them, getting the right shots. That’s my job as the photographer. I want you to have fun too of course.
Lets put it this way, I want to capture your kids with you in a happy moment in time. In a moment where you are relaxed and enjoying them as they are right then and there. Celebrating their crazy running round, face pulling, silliness, missing teeth, location exploring, tree climbing, cuddles, animal noises, singing; whatever your kids do when they are having the best fun of all.
All of those things make the session so much fun for you, your kids and me. Yup, I love family sessions because I get to capture kids in their element.
You might think “but I really want a photo of everyone looking and smiling, for me and for Grandma”.
Sure, I know this feeling. Its usually what I personally want too and I usually get these shots, and its from experience much easier if the kids are happy. Telling them to smile or getting cross if they don’t look is the best way to NOT get those photos.
At my last session right at the end, the littlest bubba was toddling in the sand, and sat down bum first in a puddle, then was so excited he flopped face first in the puddle too. Once we established he was totally fine. Which he was, as he had the hugest grin on his little face and thought it was damn hilarious. He has us all in tears of laughter, because it didn’t stop him, he kept playing. I even managed to capture some really adorable photos of him playing in the sand with his sister in the sunset.
Fun is the goal.
At the end of the day, I want everyone to have a fun session, to remember it fondly so when you get the photos, flip through the album or look up at the photos on the wall with everyone giggling, how much fun you have together as a family.Right then right there, that day.
